What is happiness and can you stay happy all the time? Is it even possible? In this post, I want to show you 10 ways to achieve this worthy goal.

Happiness is a choice!

Yup, it’s as easy as just waking up one day and deciding that from now on you are going to be happy!

I made that decision ten years ago and never looked back.

Sadly, not everyone knows that, so today, I am going to share with you 10 ways to cultivate a happiness mindset.

Generation X

First, happiness comes from within; when your inner-self is aligned with your core values, and when your mindset is focused on inner happiness than external joys then you just uncovered the key to everlasting happiness. Happy people discovered that secret and they made sure that they made this a daily habit to practice.

Also, happiness is feeling joy, wonder, and satisfaction about life and the events that make out your life.

lastly, happiness is not event based, you see we all run into setbacks every now and then but we can’t let that control our happiness cause if that’s the case, then we’ll never be completely happy at any given moment of our lives.

Ok, let’s dive into how you can cultivate a happiness mindset to ensure maximum happiness level at all times.

So just like happy people made the art of happiness a daily habit, let’s turn you into a happiness magnet. Start by focusing on these 10 tips:

1. The Current Moment Is All You Have

Leave the past behind, let the future unfold itself, and focus on today, and today only.

Dwelling the in past leads to nothing other than frustration and trying to control what will happen two hours from now is like trying to predict the color of an item while being blindfolded.

So instead, enjoy the small details of your day such as enjoying the sun rise, sipping a perfect cup of coffee or tea, talking to a friend or a family member, etc.

Living the present moment is where happiness resides!

2. Have An Attitude of Gratitude

Be grateful for each second of your life and if for whatever reason you find it difficult to “enjoy the present moment,” then focus on giving thanks for what the moment represents: good health, good company, a roof over your head, a sense of your spirituality, an exciting vacation to look forward to …

By giving appreciation to each moment, you’re activating the Law of Attraction and we all know that likes attract likes.

3. Find Your “Happy Place.”

We all have our own happy place, for me, it’s one of two places; either going outdoors like a park, the beach or the mountains or my meditation room if I am indoors. So whenever I feel a bit less happy, I always go to my happy place.

So start by picking your own happy place and redirect your thoughts, energy, and perspective to that place or thing that makes you feel good!

Please not that there are no specific rules on finding your “happy place”, it can be anything—a person, a place or a thing that improves the way you feel about yourself.

So sit back, and visualize being in your happy place and forget about everything else

Repeat as needed.

4. Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life.

There isn’t much that we can control, except for our own inner thoughts and inner dialogues so make sure you have a positive one.

Happy people control the thoughts they harbor, and whenever a negative or unproductive thought comes, they make sure that a positive and productive one replaces it.

5. Forgot What Happiness Look Like, Take A Refresher From A Baby

Nowadays, life has become too serious that you might’ve forgotten what happiness look like but to get a refresher look no further than watching babies.

Babies live in the present moment so fully that they forget about everything else.

Do you have kids, go play with them, literally! And no I don’t mean PlayStation here, I mean PLAY play, like outside play 🙂

6. Have Some Quality Time With Your Dog or Cat

Whenever I feel a bit down, I always go play with my dog.

You see, dogs can perk your mood right up as they have one goal in mind which is to make us happy, well maybe food then make us happy 🙂

If you’re a cat person, then do something with your cat. However, cats have one thing in their mind, and it’s how to make CAT happy, so not sure how that will go LOL.

7. Focus On Making Others Happy

An excellent way to raise your happiness meter is by giving your time to others doing something that makes them feel happy.

When we see people around happy we can’t help but feel happy too. So contribute to causes you’re passionate about, smile, and get to know those you’re helping. Invest your time and energy in the other’s experiences and let their happiness replenish yours.

8. Meditate

There are many scientific studies that highlights the benefits of meditation and happiness is one of these benefits.

So whenever feeling low on happiness meditate and increase your happiness in a pinch, and that’s not just me speaking it’s actually backed by science. If you want to learn the link between meditation and happiness, please read this article.

9. Journaling

Feeling stressed out? Then, write your heart out.

Let your thoughts run freely, with no reservations about what you have to say.

Don’t try to censor yourself—the very act of writing can be a great way to purge negative feelings that prevent happiness.

After writing the letter, read it out loud and then destroy it by shredding it, burning it or simply throwing it away.

10. Find Your Reason Why

The easiest and fastest way to be happy and stay happy is to know why you want to be happy in the first place.

Do you want to be happy for yourself, do you want to be happy for your family and to set an example of excellence?

Or maybe you want to be happy so that you can do a better job, serve better, help better and simply be better.

No matter what your reason might be, simply explore and remind yourself of this to maintain a long term happy filled life.

In summary, happiness is all about the feelings you generate from the inside

So be happy, surround yourself with people and things that make you happy and also focus on making others happy too.

The above mentioned 10 habits of incredibly happy people are just a start I am sure there are 100 of another thing that you can add to the list, but this list is not too shabby for a start.
